Game Adaptation of Wanted in the Works

Warner Bros. Interactive has announced that a game adaptation of the new movie Wanted is in development. The game, which starred Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman and James McAvoy, will be developed by GRIN (who are currently working on Bionic Commando). The storyline of the game will pick up where the movie leaves off, providing fans with another chapter to explore both Wesley’s journey into becoming an überassassin and the epic fiction of the Fraternity.
Wanted will be coming to unnamed "current generation" consoles and PC.

    Blizzard Announces Diablo III

After weeks of speculation, Blizzard has announced that Diablo III is in development for the PC and Mac. No release date was given, but with Blizzard's time split between Starcraft II, a World of Warcraft expansion and now Diablo III, it might be a while.

Diablo III was announced at Blizzard's WorldWide Invitational in Paris and the initial details at the show included two character classes (Witch Doctor and Barbarian), male and female options for all classes and confirmation that cooperative play will be included.

In addition, Blizzard has launched a very large website for the game at Blizzard.com/diablo3 that includes screenshots, video, concept art, storyline details and an FAQ.

Disney's Bolt Flies to Game Systems Too

Bolt, the next computer animated movie from Disney (that's not being made by Pixar), will be released in theaters this November. It looks like a video game version will be released right alongside it as Disney Interactive today announced Bolt for the DS, PC, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360.

Here's what Disney had to say about Bolt:

Bolt tells the story of a canine TV star that is inadvertently shipped from Hollywood to New York City, where he begins a cross-country adventure home and makes the surprising discovery that the super powers he thought he had don’t work in the real world. The Bolt video game, which is being developed by Avalanche Software, Disney’s Interactive Studios’ family games development studio, takes place in the world of the action-packed television show and offers the opportunity for Bolt and Penny to travel throughout five international locations, including Russia and Italy.

In the game, players take on the heroic personas of the TV star dog, Bolt, and his owner, Penny, from the high-action television series featured within the film. As Bolt, players can use his superpowers, including laser vision and his superbark, which sends out a sonic blast to devastate opponents, and as Penny, players utilize stealth, hacking skills and a wheelbar, inspired by her scooter seen in the movie, to outwit enemies.
Bolt is voiced by John Travolta, while Penny is voiced by Disney's big star Miley Cyrus. It's unknown if either will lend their voice to the game, but given Disney's track record, it's very likely.

High School Musical 3 Games Coming This December

Disney Interactive plans to release two new games to coincide with the third High School Musical movie this December. The main title will be High School Musical 3: Senior Year Dance!, which will be coming to the PC, PlayStation 2, Wii and Xbox 360. A separate DS game, High School Musical 3: Senior Year, will be released as well.

High School Musical 3: Senior Year Dance! is a rhythm game that will require players to move along with the beat using "controllers unique to each video game console." Players will have the option to play as their favorite character (Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan, Chad or Taylor) or create their own. The game will include music from all three movies and competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes.

High School Musical 3: Senior Year for the DS is another rhythm game that will allow players to dance through the new movie as their favorite character, but this time with a DS twist.

First Footage of Duke Nukem Forever

Jason "Jace" Hall is the founder of Monolith Productions and his his previous work at that company includes the well regarded first person shooters FEAR and Condemned: Criminal Origins. He is also the host of the Jace Hall Show videocast (a mix of interviews with video game and entertainment personalities), which is now playing at Crackle. The first episode was uploaded May 30 and boy is it a doozy. Jace Hall got the first look at 3D Realms' Duke Nukem Forever.

First, he interviews George Broussard and Scott Miller of 3D Realms and then at about 4 minutes and 15 seconds into the video the world is treated to their first in-game look at Duke Nukem Forever. It goes for about 40 seconds and reminds me a little of Prey and Doom 3.

Is the long 12-year wait finally over? Maybe, maybe not, but either way, this is more than the world has seen of Duke Nukem Forever in a long time.

    Crysis Warhead Coming This Fall

EA and Crytek have announced the next game in the Crysis series, Crysis Warhead, will be coming to the PC this Fall. Crysis Warhead will be developed by Crytek's new studio in Budapest and will tell the story of Sergeant "Psycho" Sykes and the other side of the island.

Here's what EA had to say:

More brash and aggressive than his Delta Force squadmate Nomad, players will experience Psycho’s parallel story during the events of the original game, finding that life on the other side of the island is even more intense and explosive than they ever could have imagined. Luckily, Psycho’s Nanosuit is just as capable and he’s equipped with an even bigger arsenal of fully customizable weapons and new vehicles, giving players access to the tools they need to dominate any situation.
Crysis Warhead will be built on an enhanced version of the CryEngine 2 that powered the original Crysis. It will also include a bunch of new multiplayer options. EA has said more details on Crysis Warhead will be revealed in the Summer (read: E3).

Everything From Ubisoft's Ubidays 2008 Event

Ubisoft's annual Ubidays event always showcases the big titles the big third-party publisher has in the works. And this year the event has unveiled a bevy of big titles, many of which will likely be released by the end of the year. Although one of the games that is still in the early stages is Beyond Good & Evil 2. Created by Michel Ancel (the creator of Rayman), BG&E2 is the sequel to a GameCube/PC/PS2/Xbox game that is routinely included on "The Best Games You've Never Played" lists.

If you're interested in seeing what all the fuss is about, Ubisoft has posted the latest trailers of all of the games on hand at Ubidays at their video site, Uplay. The site includes the first trailer of Beyond Good & Evil 2 (listed as "Chapter 1: The Pig") along with trailers from Shaun White Snowboarding, Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party, Far Cry 2, Tom Clancy's EndWar, Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, Prince of Persia and Ubisoft's "Game For Everyone" line of casual games for the DS and Wii.

Baja 1000 Game Coming this Fall

Activision has announced they will be publishing a game this Fall based on the grueling Baja 1000 road race. The game will be known as SCORE International Baja 1000 and it will be coming to the PC, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360. It is being developed by Left Field Productions, the development best known for the highly acclaimed N64 game Excitebike 64 and most recently known for the lackluster Wii pseudo-sequel Nitrobike.

Baja 1000 will be attempting to create a realistic version of the race as many vehicles may not make it to the end:

Sporting over 90 vehicles across multiple classes in the real Baja 1000 – including trophy trucks, class I, motorcycles, ATVs and more – the game challenges players to not only be first across the finish line, but also keep their machine intact! Hyper-realistic dirt and damage modeling in the game means players need to be crazy enough to take chances, but not so reckless that their vehicle is destroyed before the race is over.
